It's part concert film and part dramatic movie, but all 3D! And get this, it'll be coming to you in glorious IMAX. "Metallica Through the Never" is the newest feature project from those beloved heavy-metal rock gods, and they're promising head-banging moviegoers an IMAX 3D event like they've never seen. It even says that, right in the film's debut trailer, which also swears it's "a concert like you've never heard" and it will feature "Metallica like you've never experienced." So, there you go.
The scripted portion of the film was directed by Hungarian filmmaker Nimrod Antal (the director behind Predators, and the foreign thriller, Kontroll) and it features a story about a Metallica roadie (played by Dane DeHaan, from Chronicle) who is sent into the city for a menial task, but soon things go awry. Cue: a sideswiped van, hordes of troublemakers, attack dogs, and riot police. You can catch all the heavy-metal fun when the film opens for a one-week engagement on September 27th, and then expands in additional theaters on October 4th.
Award-winning filmmaker Nimrod Antal creates a groundbreaking 3-D motion picture event, Metallica Through the Never. The music-driven feature film combines a bold narrative and spectacular live-performance footage of one of the most popular and influential rock bands in history to produce a bracing, raw and visceral cinematic experience. Emerging young star Dane DeHaan portrays Trip, a young roadie sent on an urgent mission during Metallica’s roaring live set in front of a sold-out arena.
