You can understand why Ben Affleck, Olga Kurylenko, Javier Bardem, and Rachel McAdams appear to be a bit confuse in this three-part, behind-the-scenes featurette for Terrence Malick's latest effort "To The Wonder." Their baffling faces, displayed in these "Making Of" clips (you can view them individually here: Part-1, Part-2, Part-3 ), are basically caused by Malick's breezy style of filmmaking. And namely, his decision to have the script work only as a loose blueprint, to which much of the film had to be improvise, forcing the famously-eccentric director to instinctively piece a story together with his punch-drunk cast on a moment's notice. Bizarre? Yeah, you got that right. But, as producer Nicolas Gonda says in the clip about the film's storytelling process, "It, in many ways, wasn't a story that was crafted ... it was one that was discovered." Well, you can discover the whole movie when it arrives in theaters on April 12th.
Neil (Ben Affleck) is a man who is torn between two loves: Marina (Olga Kurylenko), the European woman who comes to United States to be with him, and Jane (Rachel McAdams), the old flame he reconnects with from his hometown. Neil's doubts about his life and loves are reflected in the crisis of faith experienced by Father Quintana (Javier Bardem), who only sees pain and the loss of hope in the world.
