If you ever asked Santa Claus for a Christmas movie starring Harry Connick Jr. as a Grinch-like family man who learns the value of the holidays when he buys a house inside a Christmas-loving neighborhood from a mysterious country bumpkin, played by Willie Nelson. Well, apparently he's a little late (or very early), but your gift will be waiting for you at this year's SXSW film festival. The movie will be titled, "When Angels Sing," and it will also star Connie Britton, Lyle Lovett, Kris Kristofferson and Fionnula Flanagan.
Apparently, this good-natured family feature is the latest effort from Tim McCanlies, the director of the acclaimed coming-of-age dramedy "Secondhand Lions." It was also produced by Elizabeth Avellan, who oversaw all of her former-husband Robert Rodriguez's films, including the Spy Kids franchise. Watch the trailer above.
Harry Connick Jr. stars as Michael Walker, who, as a child, wished every day could be Christmas. That is, until a tragic accident crushed his holiday spirit. Thirty years later, Michael still can't muster any joy for the holidays, despite encouragement from his playful wife (Connie Britton) and well-intentioned parents (Kris Kristofferson, Fionnula Flanagan). But when his young son (Chandler Canterbury) faces a tragedy, Michael needs to make amends with his past. A mysterious man named Nick (Willie Nelson) gives Michael a gift and instills in him the courage to find the joy that he lost.
