What movie is closing this year's Sundance Film Festival? Well, it's jOBS, the upcoming biopic from director Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote), in which Ashton Kutcher portrays a young Steve Jobs -- specifically during the early days of Apple computers when the ambitious tech wiz was trying to start up the company in 1971. After its Park City premiere, promotion for the film will continue next week at San Francisco's Macworld. Kutcher is scheduled to join co-star Josh Gad (who plays Job's right-hand man / Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak) for a live panel discussion.
But you don't have to wait until then to get a taste of their acting chemistry. Just check out this sneak peek clip from their movie which features both Kutcher as Jobs and Gad as Wozniak. Here, they are debating on whether computers have wide audience appeal. "Nobody wants to buy a computer," Gad says in the clip. Oh, how times have changed.
jOBS is set to open in theaters on April 19th (a date that actually marks Apple's 37th anniversary). UPDATE: the movie is now slated to open on August 16th.
JOBS reveals the extraordinary life story behind the legend of the original innovator, the ground-breaking entrepreneur who let nothing stand in the way of greatness: Steve Jobs. Starting in 1971, the film tells the epic and turbulent story of the major moments and fascinating characters that influenced Steve Jobs on a daily basis through 2001, when the iPod was introduced to the world and changed modern technology forever.
