Following a couple of gruesome red-band previews, the safer (and less intense) green-band trailer has arrived online for "Evil Dead," the upcoming modern-day remake of Sam Raimi's classic 1981 horror film. This time around, Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, and Lou Taylor Pucci star as a group of friends who conjures up a batch of woodland spirits when they mistakenly read from a demonic book found in their remote cabin. With a more serious tone, and centering on the subject of drug addiction, the story has been updated with the help of first-time feature director Fede Alvarez, who co-wrote the screenplay with Oscar-winning writer Diablo Cody (Juno).
Produced by its original creators, Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Robert G. Tapert, "Evil Dead" is slated to open in theaters on April 12th.
In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
