It's been nine years since he debuted with the low-budget, time-traveling thriller "Primer," but writer/director/actor Shane Carruth finally makes his long-awaited sophomore effort with a new mind-bending drama "Upstream Color," which is set to make its premiere in a couple of days at Sundance.
While much of the film has been kept in the dark, this newly-released full-length trailer gives us a keyhole peek at the puzzling story. Here, Carruth stars opposite Amy Seimetz as a mysterious couple in a strange and troubled relationship that seemingly has been connected by powers beyond love, nature, and space. Throw in a couple of hallucinogenic scenes containing pigs getting manhandled by farmers, kids drinking a glass of "special" water and a man scraping a plant leaf for its blue-colored dirt. And you got one powerful trailer that will likely keep you buzzing with excitement.
Following its Park City debut, "Upstream Color" heads over to Berlin Int'l Film Festival in February before it starts a theatrical run in April -- starting in New York on April 5th and in Los Angeles on April 11th. The full theatrical listings can be found at Carruth's official website: shanecarruth.com.
