Despite his little cameos in "The Expendables" films, it will be almost ten years since the last time we saw Arnold Schwarzenegger in a leading action role. That's about to change with next week's release of the new cop thriller "The Last Stand," in which Arnold stars as an aging small-town sheriff who becomes the last hurdle for a psychotic fugitive ( Eduardo Noriega) headed to the Mexican border in a souped-up sports car.
But now at age 65, can Arnold really still be a believable hero? Well, this just-released red band trailer indicates that the action icon hasn't lost his touch when it comes to delivering cheesy one-liners. ("You f-cked up my day off!") Though granted, he moves a bit slower now. Arnold is still capable of mowing down a long line of bad guys, especially with the help of a military machine gun that Johnny Knoxville lovingly calls his "crazy bitch." It looks like Korean director Kim Jee-woon (who makes his English-language debut) is going for more silliness than seriousness. Here's hoping it turns out to be a fun time in the theaters when it opens on January 18th.
