If you went to the movies this holiday break, you might have noticed a strange movie title embedded on the marquee: Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away 3D. There's a good chance that was the first time you ever heard of it, because the movie opened kinda quietly last weekend without much hoopla. Even though it was executive-produced by James Cameron (Avatar) and directed by Andrew Adamson (Shrek), the film -- which obviously is based on the strangely-popular circus act -- seemed to be overshadowed by bigger films.
Nevertheless, this interesting behind-the-scenes featurrette has surfaced, and it delivers a nice look at how Adamson essentially filmed live acrobatic performances and incorporated them inside an original story he created. Cameron also makes an appearance in the clip, offering his thoughts about the movie. "Worlds Away 3D" is currently playing in theaters.
From the big top to the big screen, visionary filmmaker James Cameron and director Andrew Adamson (Shrek, Narnia) invite you and your family on an all new 3D adventure: Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away. A young couple who is separated must journey through the astonishing and dreamlike worlds of Cirque du Soleil to find each other, as audiences experience the immersive 3D technology that will allow them to leap, soar, swim, and dance with the performers. This holiday season, Cirque du Soleil brings their world to your city!
