Star Trek Into Darkness — Official Teaser Trailer

added: Mon, Dec 17th '12

Unless you were buried under a big fluffy pile of Tribbles, you've probably already seen the "announcement" trailer for J.J. Abrams' hotly-anticipated sequel "Star Trek Into Darkness." Well, we're happy to report that it was merely a 60-second preview, and the official full-length teaser trailer has now been released for your online viewing pleasure. With about 50 seconds longer, the fantastic clip offers a bit more footage of Benedict Cumberbatch as the mysterious villain, "John Harrison." Turns out this methodical madman is seeking the total annihilation of Starfleet, and it's up to Captain Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Bones (Karl Urban), and the rest of the Starship Enterprise crew to stop and bring down this determined adversary.

While many have speculated that this unknown baddie is somehow connected to Khan (the genetically engineered villain, famously played by Ricardo Montalban), these new scenes don't really offer any concrete evidence on the origins of John Harrison. It appears Abrams hasn't lost his touch when it comes to leaving fans guessing and wanting more. Hopefully questions will be answered when the movie approaches its release date, on May 17th.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
