Blancanieves — Trailer

If you thought Julia Roberts' "Mirror Mirror" was a bizarre Snow White flick, well just wait 'til you get a load of this. Watch this spellbinding trailer for "Blancanieves," Spain's official Oscar entry for this year's Best Foreign Film. Written and directed by Pablo Berger, the movie is a Fellini-esque take on the Grimm fairy tale. Only this time the story is set in the 1920s, and revolves around a young girl who yearns to be a famous bullfighter (like her deceased father), but has her dreams crushed by her evil, wicked stepmother.

Besides the obvious black-and-white aesthetic, the movie pays homage to the silent era of European cinema. So think "The Artist," but with bullfighting dwarves.

Once upon a time there was a little girl who had never known her mother. She learned the art of her father, a famous bullfighter, but was hated by her evil stepmother. One day she ran away with a troupe of dwarves, and became a legend.
