Ben Wheatley's acclaimed black comedy "Sightseers" is set to open in the UK next week. And while we've seen a previously-released trailer, it seems a slightly more wicked international preview has surfaced, giving us a better taste of the movie's dark humor. Actually, taste is the operative word for one meddlesome dog in the movie.
Watch Ginger-haired British comedian Steve Oram as Pete, a crabby man with a really short fuse who takes his flaky girlfriend Tina (Alice Lowe) on a romantic road trip to the countryside, only to be rudely confronted by an annoying tourist. But it turns out, this sightseer has picked the wrong day to piss off Pete. Smash cut to a couple of scenes of carnage as the loopy love birds are seen reveling in their murderous actions. The only thing left is to cue the music: Tainted Love by Soft Cell and The Power Of Love by Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Now, that's entertainment!
Chris (Steve Oram) wants to show Tina (Alice Lowe) his world and he wants to do it his way -- on a journey through this sceptred isle in his beloved Abbey Oxford Caravan. Tina's led a sheltered life and there are things that Chris needs her to see -- the Crich Tramway Museum, the Ribblehead Viaduct, the Keswick Pencil Museum and the rolling countryside that separates these wonders in his life. But it doesn’t take long for the dream to fade. Litterbugs, noisy teenagers and pre-booked caravan sites, not to mention Tina’s meddling mother, soon conspire to shatter Chris’s dreams and send him, and anyone who rubs him up the wrong way, over a very jagged edge...
