Here's the UK Trailer for the acclaimed new coming-of-age drama "Broken," which was recently nominated for nine British Independent Film Awards (the most of any film this year). In the film, newcomer Eloise Laurence plays Skunk, a 11-year old diabetic who witnesses a brutal attack between neighbors, which leaves her traumatized and filled with questions. Leaving her father (Tim Roth) to investigate for answers and to try to mend their shattered suburban life in the process.
"Broken" is based on English author Daniel Clay's novel (which was inspired by Harper Lee's classic "To Kill a Mockingbird") and will be released in UK theaters next Spring.
The 15th annual British Independent Film Awards winners will be announced on December 9th.
Skunk is 11, diabetic and pretty cool. Rick is her sweet neighbor. Bob is her mean neighbor. Skunk’s world is about to change… Shortly after witnessing a brutal beating, Skunk’s home, neighborhood and school all become treacherous environments, where the happy certainties of childhood give way to injustice and danger; her innocence is rapidly worn away and a harsh world fills her future. When Skunk finally seeks solace in an unspoken friendship with sweet, damaged Rick, she’s left with a choice- to stay in a life she was not promised, or to leave this broken place behind.
