Here's another look at director Lasse Hallstrom's big-screen adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' romantic bestseller "Safe Haven." It stars Julianne Hough (Rock of Ages, Footloose) as a young woman -- who seemingly is running from the law -- moves to a small seaside-town in North Carolina. But after hooking up with a local widower (Josh Duhamel of Transformers fame), she quickly finds that her troubled past has caught up with her. Now she's forced to choose between staying with her new boyfriend or running away again. But don't worry, this is not before we see plenty of scenes brimming with playful frolicking and rain-induced embraces.
"Safe Haven" opens in theaters on February 8th.
An affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman’s struggle to love again, Safe Haven is based on the novel from Nicholas Sparks, the best-selling author behind the hit films The Notebook and Dear John. When a mysterious young woman (Julianne Hough) arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex (Josh Duhamel), a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life with such terror that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.
