In the new road-trip drama-comedy "Treasure," starring Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry, a daughter and father embark on an emotional journey through Poland.

Set in the 1990s, the film follows Ruth, an American music journalist portrayed by "Girls" creator Lena Dunham, who accompanies her Polish Jewish father, Edek, played by British actor Stephen Fry, on a trip to his homeland. As Ruth seeks to uncover more about her father's past in Poland, their journey takes an emotional turn when Edek reveals the horrific experiences he endured during the Nazi invasion, shedding light on a side of his life Ruth has rarely heard about.

Based on Lily Brett's 1999 novel "Too Many Men," "Treasure" represents the English language debut of German writer-director Julia von Heinz, recognized for her acclaimed German films like "And Tomorrow the Entire World" (2020), "I'm Off Then" (2015), and "Nothing Else Matters" (2007).

"Treasure" is set to premiere in U.S. theaters on June 14th. Watch the newly-released official trailer, above.

synopsis:
A father-daughter road trip set in 1990s Poland, TREASURE follows Ruth (Lena Dunham), an American music journalist, and her father, Edek (Stephen Fry), a charmingly stubborn Holocaust survivor, on a journey to his homeland. While Ruth is eager to make sense of her family's past, Edek embarks on the trip with his own agenda. This emotional, funny culture clash of two New Yorkers exploring post-socialist Poland is a powerful example of how reconnecting with family and the past can be an unexpected treasure.
