In this mind-bending sci-fi series for Apple TV, Joel Edgerton takes the lead as a man who seemingly has it all: a stunning wife, a beautiful family, and a thriving career. However, his seemingly perfect world takes a surreal turn when he finds himself locked in a battle with another version of himself, fighting for control over the life he's always dreamed of.

Check out the official trailer for "Dark Matter," a new Apple original series based on Blake Crouch's best-selling sci-fi thriller novel. Crouch himself serves as the executive producer, writer, and showrunner for the show. The drama poses a thought-provoking question: what if there are multiple realities, multiple versions of yourself out there, living parallel, yet alternative lives? And what if your alternate self, consumed by jealousy of your life, orchestrates a plan to kidnap you and assume your identity?

Here, Edgerton takes on the role of Jason Dessen, a well-respected physicist and loving family man. His world is turned upside down when he's abducted one night and wakes up in a secret facility. To his disbelief, he discovers that he's been transported to an alternate reality where his own doppelganger has taken over his life. Now, Jason must navigate this strange new world and find a way back to his own reality, including reuniting with his beloved wife, played by Jennifer Connelly.

Joining Edgerton and Connelly in the series are Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, and Oakes Fegley. While, acclaimed television helmer Jakob Verbruggen (The Alienist, House of Cards, London Spy) directs the first couple of episodes of this nine-part limited series.

"Dark Matter" is expected to make its debut on Apple TV Plus on May 8th with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Wednesday.
