This is the epic story of the fierce rivalry between breakfast cereal giants Kellogg's and Post, as told by none other than comedian Jerry Seinfeld.

Check out the official debut trailer for "Unfrosted," Netflix's new comedy set in the groovy 1960s. The film not only marks the directorial debut of Jerry Seinfeld but also features him in the lead role alongside Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, Max Greenfield, and Christian Slater.

In this upcoming period comedy, Seinfeld takes on the role of Bob Cabana, an executive at Kellogg's in 1963, Michigan. His world is turned upside down when he learns that their biggest competitor, Post, has just introduced an innovative pastry product that can revolutionize the industry by being easily stored on shelves. This prompts Cabana to initiate an ambitious public campaign aimed at developing a new breakfast product to rival Post's innovation. This endeavor eventually results in the birth of the iconic toaster oven treats, Pop-Tarts. Akin to the space race, Kellogg's and Post engage in a heated competition to determine who will emerge victorious and claim the title of the breakfast cereal king.

This story has reportedly been a passion project for Seinfeld for many years, dating back to as early as 2010 when he humorously discussed his fondness for Pop-Tarts during an appearance on David Letterman's talk show. Seinfeld also seemingly hinted at the idea of making a Pop-Tart movie through a tweet in 2018.

Seinfeld collaborated with "Seinfeld" writers Spike Feresten and Andy Robin, alongside comedian Barry Marder, to co-write the film. This is the same writing team behind the 2007 animated comedy "Bee Movie."

The comedy boasts an impressive lineup of guest stars, including Bill Burr portraying U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Hugh Grant as Tony the Tiger, James Marsden as Jack LaLanne, Jack McBrayer as Steve Schwinn, Bobby Moynihan as Chef Boyardee, Andy Daly as Isiah Lamb, better known as the Quaker Oats guy, and Kyle Dunnigan as legendary newsman Walter Cronkite. Additionally, SNL comedians Kyle Mooney, Mikey Day, and Drew Tarver portray Snap, Crackle, and Pop, respectively, among others.

"Unfrosted" is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix on May 3rd.
