In this psychological horror-infused British drama, a young troubled woman forges an intense and obsessive connection with an equally troubled young man from her foster home.

Check out the official international trailer for "Hoard," a stylish new film that premiered last year at the Venice Film Festival. It snagged a Critic's Audience Award, signaling the emergence of promising new talent in the form of English filmmaker Luna Carmoon.

The movie stars newcomer Saura Lightfoot Leon, from Apple's "Masters of the Air," and Joseph Quinn, who gained fame in Season 4 of Netflix's "Stranger Things." Quinn will also next be seen this summer in the sci-fi horror spin-off "A Quiet Place: Day One."

In "Hoard," Leon and Quinn portray Maria and Michael, a young couple whose toxic relationship is shaped by their challenging backgrounds. Both hail from broken homes. And from what we can tell with this newly released trailer, Maria's upbringing was particularly brutal. She was raised on the streets by her emotionally unstable mother, played by English actress Hayley Squires, from "Beau Is Afraid" and Apple's "The Essex Serpent." It seems Maria carries that weight of her traumatic past into her new relationship with Michael.

"Hoard" marks the feature film debut of writer and director Luna Carmoon. The film is scheduled for release in the U.K. on May 17th. Be sure to catch the new U.K. trailer above for a glimpse into Carmoon's unique and provocative cinematic vision of trauma and toxic bond.
