In order to keep the streets of Gotham safe, Batman requires villains to battle against. So, enter the Penguin. And thus begins his story -- a tale destined to be etched in memory.

Check out the first official teaser for the forthcoming MAX original series "The Penguin," featuring Colin Farrell reprising his role as Gotham's infamous gangster Oswald "Oz" Cobblepot, also known as The Penguin -- one of Batman's most formidable foes. Farrell's transformation is striking, as he once again undergoes extensive makeup prosthetics and dons a sizable body suit to bring the character to life once more.

Set in the aftermath of filmmaker Matt Reeves's 2022 blockbuster "The Batman," starring Robert Pattinson, this eight-episode drama serves as a spinoff. The series unfolds one week after the events depicted in the film, showcasing The Penguin's ascent to power as he seizes control of the criminal empire vacated by the demise of crime boss Carmine Falcone.

Created and executive produced by television writer Lauren LeFranc ("Impulse," "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."), the series also features Cristin Milioti ("Made for Love," "Palm Springs") in the role of Sofia Falcone, Carmine's daughter. Sofia engages in a power struggle with Cobblepot for dominance over Gotham City's criminal underworld following her father's death.
