The Doctor has returned, and this time, get ready for a brand new time-travel adventure unlike any before.

Disney has released the official trailer for "Doctor Who," the newest revamped season of the long-running British sci-fi series, set to premiere on Disney Plus in May.

Rwandan-Scottish actor Ncuti Gatwa assumes the iconic role of the Doctor, a millennia-old alien Time Lord known for regenerating into different forms throughout its history. Gatwa portrays the Fifteenth Doctor, following in the footsteps of esteemed British actors like David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker, Peter Capaldi, Matt Smith, and Christopher Eccleston.

Ncuti Gatwa may be familiar to audiences from his role in Netflix's hit teen comedy series "Sex Education" or his portrayal of "Artist Ken" in the blockbuster comedy "Barbie." In addition, Gatwa recently showcased his dancing skills on stage, joining other "Kens" as backup dancers during Ryan Gosling's lively performance of "I'm Just Ken" at the Oscars.

Joining Gatwa is English actress Millie Gibson ("Coronation Street"), who portrays the new companion Ruby Sunday in this new season. On a side note, recent reports have indicated that Indian-born British actress Varada Sethu ("Andor") has been hired to take over the role of the new companion in the forthcoming next season, which is currently in production.

Acclaimed showrunner Russell T Davies ("It's a Sin," "Queer as Folk," "Torchwood"), who previously rebooted the cult series back in 2005, has returned to write and executive produce this latest season of "Doctor Who."

The first two episodes of this new season of "Doctor Who" will stream on May 10th on Disney Plus in the U.S. Meanwhile, the show will debut the next day in the U.K. on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
