In this new darkly dystopian satire from Caitlin Cronenberg, daughter of legendary horror director David Cronenberg, siblings are pitted against each other when their parents impulsively commit to something they're not prepared for.

Check out the official trailer for "Humane," a dark Canadian satire set in the not-too-distant future, where the world grapples with an ecological catastrophe leading to a significant decline in the human population. Amidst a newly implemented government program allowing citizens to volunteer to end their lives in order to bolster human resources, the film revolves around a family in turmoil.

Jay Baruchel ("BlackBerry"), Emily Hampshire ("Schitt's Creek"), Sebastian Chacon ("Daisy Jones & The Six"), Alanna Bale ("Cardinal"), and Sirena Gulamgaus ("Transplant") headline the cast as siblings. Peter Gallagher ("The O.C.") portrays the family patriarch, who hastily volunteers himself and his wife for the government-sponsored euthanasia program. However, when his wife backs out at the last minute, government agents arrive, demanding "two bodies." This sets off a dilemma as one of the children must now step in to fulfill the obligation. The question is: which one will it be? Thus ensues a chaotic struggle among the siblings.

Veteran character actor Enrico Colantoni ("Galaxy Quest," "Veronica Mars") costars as a government agent tasked with collecting the bodies by any means necessary.

"Humane" is written by Michael Sparaga and marks the feature directorial debut of Caitlin Cronenberg. The film is set to hit theaters on April 26th (via IFC Films) and will be made available for streaming on Shudder at a later date.
