Canadian special effects makeup artist Chris Nash makes his feature film debut with this "ambient slasher," which tracks a monstrous mute killer from its resurrection to a string of brutal murders of vacationing teens. The unique twist lies in its largely story perspective, often portraying events through the viewpoint of the killer, occasionally accompanied by a floating camera that trails alongside and behind the murderous slasher. Reportedly, the film chooses to forgo a musical score in order to heighten the intensity of the action.

Imagine a scenario akin to "Friday the 13th," but told entirely from Jason Voorhees's perspective, never straying from his side as he hunts down his victims. This approach would offer a truly immersive and unique experience. That's likely why audiences at Sundance went wild during the premiere of "In a Violent Nature."

Written and directed by Chris Nash, who had directed various short films before, including the awesomely grotesque pregnancy horror "Z is for Zygote" featured in the horror anthology film "ABCs of Death 2," the upcoming horror film stars Ry Barrett, Andrea Pavlovic, Cameron Love, Liam Leone, and Reece Presley.

Following its Sundance premiere, "In a Violent Nature" was acquired by IFC Films and Shudder Films. The film is now scheduled to hit theaters on May 31st, with a streaming release on Shudder to follow at a later date.

The enigmatic resurrection, rampage, and retribution of an undead monster in a remote wilderness unleashes an iconic new killer. Delve into the wilderness where an undead horror awakens. "In a Violent Nature" flips the script on traditional slashers, inviting you to witness the rampage from the monster's eyes... When a locket is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the woods that entombs the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred on by a horrific 60-year old crime, his body is resurrected and becomes hellbent on retrieving it. The undead golem hones in on the group of vacationing teens responsible for the theft and proceeds to methodically slaughter them one by one in his mission to get it back -- along with anyone in his way.
