"Fallout" is an upcoming post-apocalyptic sci-fi action series adapted from the beloved video game franchise. Amazon Studios is banking on it becoming one of their major breakout hits of the year, potentially positioning it as the streaming company's flagship show. And as part of the promotional campaign, an early sneak peek clip from the premiere episode has been released to build anticipation for the series.

In the clip, we see Ella Purnell ("Yellowjackets") engaging in a tense confrontation with a nearly unrecognizable Walton Goggins ("Justified," "The Hateful Eight"). She aims a weapon at Goggins, who is clad in cowboy attire, and commands him to drop his pistol.

In the series, Purnell portrays Lucy, a young human survivor of a nuclear apocalypse who has spent most of her life sheltered in an underground bunker with her fellow Vault Dwellers. Meanwhile, Goggins tackles the role of Cooper Howard, also known as "the Ghoul," a mutated gunslinger and bounty hunter who has endured since before the bombs fell. Notably, his character lacks a nose, adding to his distinct and menacing appearance.

"Fallout" is set two centuries after a nuclear apocalypse, where inhabitants of underground fallout shelters are forced to emerge into the irradiated wasteland. They soon realize that the world above is a hostile, savage, and unforgiving place for human survivors with many severely mutated due to the radiation. The series combines elements of the Old West, "Mad Max," and Mecha genres, all while embracing a retrofuturistic aesthetic.

Jonathan Nolan, known for co-writing "The Dark Knight" and co-creating HBO's "Westworld," serves as an executive producer for the Amazon series. Additionally, he directs the first three episodes. Joining him as executive producers are his wife and fellow "Westworld" showrunner Lisa Joy, along with video game creator Todd Howard. Co-showrunners for the series are Geneva Robertson-Dworet ("Captain Marvel") and Graham Wagner ("Portlandia").

Alongside Purnell and Goggins, the cast features Aaron Moten ("Emancipation"), Moises Arias ("The King of Staten Island"), Kyle MacLachlan ("Twin Peaks"), Zach Cherry ("Severance"), Sarita Choudhury ("Homeland"), Michael Emerson ("Person of Interest"), and more.

"Fallout" is set to make its global debut on Prime Video, beginning April 12th.
