In space, no one can hear you scream -- nor can they hear your cry for help. So, what do you do when confronted with the most terrifying life form in the universe? You fight tooth and nail to survive, and you pray you never find yourself in the same predicament as the characters in this new, upcoming "Alien" movie.

Check out the first official teaser trailer for "Alien: Romulus," the latest chapter in the iconic science-fiction horror film franchise. This standalone entry revisits the basic core of space horror genre, thrusting humans into a deadly encounter with genetically engineered xenomorphs capable of thriving in any environment. This time, it's a group of young individuals stranded on a spacecraft infested with these lethal creatures.

Headlining the film is Cailee Spaeny, who recently garnered acclaim for starring in Sofia Coppola's Elvis and Priscilla Presley biopic "Priscilla." Isabela Merced, recently seen in the Sony misfire "Madame Web," is the second lead in the film. Notably, Merced is also set to portray Hawkgirl in James Gunn's upcoming "Superman" film. Alongside them, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu round out the cast.

Produced by Ridley Scott, the film is directed by acclaimed horror filmmaker Fede Alvarez, known for "Evil Dead" (2013) and "Don't Breathe." Alvarez also co-wrote the screenplay with his longtime writing and producing partner, Rodo Sayagues; based on characters created by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett.

Initially intended as a Hulu original film, "Alien: Romulus" is now slated for a theatrical release this summer, starting on August 16th. Watch the teaser, above.
