While you may recognize Steve Buscemi as a talented character actor from some of your favorite movies, what some may not realize is that he's also an accomplished director. Buscemi has helmed numerous episodes of television shows such as "The Sopranos," "Nurse Jackie," and "Miracle Workers," as well as a couple of acclaimed films including "Interview" (2007), "Lonesome Jim" (2005), and "Trees Lounge" (1996).

Buscemi has returned to the director's chair this year for what seems to be an intimate one-person drama, offering an unflinching glimpse into the private life of a phone operator working at a crisis helpline. From what we can gather, it appears to be a film that delves into the quiet moments of an empathetic woman as she listens and shoulders the weight of people's lowest points in their lives.

Check out the official trailer for "The Listener," starring Tessa Thompson from the "Thor" and "Creed" films in the role of Beth, a volunteer at a suicide and crisis helpline. Throughout the night, Beth listens to callers grappling with profound emotional struggles, offering them solace and support with her compassionate ear. Yet, the real question here is how deeply Beth internalizes these experiences before it ultimately affects her personal life.

Directed by Buscemi, the film is written by writer-producer Alessandro Camon, who received an Oscar nomination for co-writing the 2009 Iraq war drama "The Messenger."

Although Tessa Thompson is the primary on-screen presence, "The Listener" features a noteworthy cast of actors lending their voices to callers. Among them are Rebecca Hall, Logan Marshall-Green, Margaret Cho, Jamie Hector, and Alia Shawkat.

"The Listener" is set to be released in theaters and on VOD on March 29th. Be sure to check out the trailer above!
