Anya Taylor-Joy is not to be underestimated, especially when it comes to her role as a fiery young Furiosa seeking vengeance in the latest "Mad Max" installment. Check out the brand-new trailer for "Furiosa," which could very well be the biggest movie of the summer, featuring souped-up big wheel vehicles and an almost unrecognizable Chris Hemsworth sporting a wild Aussie accent.

George Miller, the mastermind behind the "Mad Max" franchise, returns with a "Fury Road" prequel spinoff focusing on the backstory of Imperator Furiosa, played by Charlize Theron in the original film. Titled "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," the movie stars Anya Taylor-Joy as a young Furiosa, depicting her horrific journey from the Green Place of Many Mothers to becoming the one-armed war captain under Immortan Joe. "Thor" actor Chris Hemsworth undergoes a striking makeover, complete with a prosthetic nose and a bushy beard, to embody Dementus, a menacing and deranged warlord in this post-apocalyptic "Mad Max" world.

The film follows a young Furiosa (Taylor-Joy) as she is captured and taken by the Biker Horde led by Dementus. She soon finds herself caught in between a bitter rivalry between Dementus (Hemsworth) and Immortan Joe (now played by Lachy Hulme, taking over for actor Hugh Keays-Byrne who sadly passed away in 2020). Furiosa seizes the opportunity to pursue her relentless quest for vengeance.

Directed by George Miller and co-written with Nico Lathouris, "Furiosa" marks the fifth installment in the revered franchise. The ensemble cast also includes Tom Burke, Alyla Browne, Nathan Jones, Angus Sampson, and Daniel Webber.

"Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" is set to storm into theaters nationwide on May 24th, offering audiences and fans an adrenaline-fueled journey into the origins of one of cinema's most iconic female warriors. Watch the new trailer above.

synopsis:
This is her Odyssey... Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth star in Academy Award-winning mastermind George Miller's “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,” the much-anticipated return to the iconic dystopian world he created more than 30 years ago with the seminal "Mad Max" films. Miller now turns the page again with an all-new original, standalone action adventure that will reveal the origins of the powerhouse character from the multiple Oscar-winning global smash "Mad Max: Fury Road."

As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.
