We've always had a feeling that Jeff Goldblum is somewhat otherworldly. He's certainly in a league of his own, seemingly created in a way that sets him apart from the rest. So, it's only fitting that he would take on the role of the King of the Gods, Zeus, in a new Netflix miniseries. Here's your first look at Goldblum as Zeus in "Kaos," Netflix's forthcoming limited series set in a modern world where mythical gods not only exist but also exert power.

The eight-episode series hails from creator Charlie Covell, who is perhaps best known for writing the acclaimed British television series "The End of the F---ing World."

"Kaos" is a high-concept black comedy with mythological elements, featuring Goldblum as the God Zeus. When Zeus wakes up one morning and notices a wrinkle on his forehead, it triggers a chain reaction of paranoia and neurosis. Convinced that his downfall is imminent, Zeus finds himself in a world descending into chaos. Meanwhile, mortal humans seize an opportunity to challenge the gods, capitalizing on their arrogance and complacency.

Goldblum leads a stellar cast of acclaimed character actors in "Kaos," including Janet McTeer as Hera, the Queen of the Gods; Cliff Curtis as Poseidon, the God of Sea, Storms, and Earthquakes; David Thewlis as Hades, the God of the Underworld; and Nabhaan Rizwan as Dionysus, Zeus' rebellious son. The ensemble also features Killian Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Misia Butler, and Leila Farzad.

Directed by Georgi Banks-Davies ("Paper Girls" and "I Hate Suzie"), "Kaos" is set to premiere on Netflix soon, although an official release date has not yet been announced. In the meantime, be sure to check out the newly released teaser trailer above.

synopsis:
Zeus (Jeff Goldblum) has long enjoyed his status as King of The Gods. That is until he wakes up one morning and discovers a wrinkle on his forehead. Neurosis sets in, setting him off on a dangerous, paranoid path. Zeus becomes convinced his fall is coming -- and starts to see signs of it everywhere.

Zeus' once reliable brother, Hades (David Thewlis), God of the Underworld, is secretly losing his grip on his dark dominion. There is a backlog of dead waiting to be processed and they are growing restless. Hera (Janet McTeer), Queen of the Gods, exercises dominion on Earth -- and over Zeus -- in her own unique way. But her power and freedom become threatened by Zeus' growing paranoia, and she is forced to act, while Zeus' rebellious son, Dionysus, (Nabhaan Rizwan), is out of control and on course for a cosmic collision with his father.

On Earth people are aching for change, however Poseidon (Cliff Curtis), God of Sea, Storms and Earthquakes (and Horses) is more concerned with the size of his super-yacht and where the next party is at. The wellbeing of mere mortals is of little interest to him. Unfortunately for the Gods some of those mortals are beginning to realize this... These mortals -- Riddy (Aurora Perrineau), Orpheus (Killian Scott), Caneus (Misia Butler) and Ari (Leila Farzad) -- come from different walks of life and are all cosmically connected in the battle against Zeus. Each one has a very different role to play, any one of them may be destined to bring down the Gods.
