Amidst ongoing debates surrounding women's health rights, the spotlight turns to the subject of in vitro fertilization (IVF) once again. So, what better timing than now for a movie depicting the groundbreaking story of the first-ever "test-tube baby"?

Check out the official first-look teaser for "Joy," a new Netflix original drama starring Thomasin McKenzie, from "Last Night in Soho" and "Jojo Rabbit," portraying Jean Purdy. Purdy, a British nurse and embryologist, played a pivotal role in pioneering the revolutionary fertility process known as in vitro fertilization throughout the 1970s.

Directed by British television veteran Ben Taylor, whose directing credits include Netflix's "Sex Education," Amazon's "Catastrophe," and Disney's upcoming "Renegade Nell," the film also stars Bill Nighy ("Love Actually") as Patrick Steptoe, the British obstetrician and gynaecologist instrumental in the development of IVF. James Norton ("Bob Marley: One Love") completes the trio, portraying Robert Edwards, the British physiologist who co-pioneered IVF.

Written by acclaimed British writer Jack Thorne, whose writing credits include HBO's "His Dark Materials" and the "Enola Holmes" films, "Joy" delves into the remarkable true story behind the historic birth of Louise Joy Brown in 1978. Brown made history as the world's first "test-tube baby," marking the culmination of a tireless 10-year journey to make IVF a reality.

"Joy" is set to arrive on Netflix soon, though an official release date has yet to be announced.
