In a world ravaged by a scarcity of oxygen, Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson finds herself in a race against time to protect her teenage daughter, where every breath counts.

Check out the official trailer for the new post-apocalyptic thriller "Breathe," which also stars Milla Jovovich, of the "Resident Evil" film series, and Quvenzhane Wallis, from "Annie" and "Beasts of the Southern Wild."

Set in a bleak not-too-distant future where Earth's surface is inhospitable due to oxygen depletion, Jennifer Hudson portrays Maya, while Quvenzhane Wallis plays her daughter Zora. Together, they inhabit an underground bunker designed to withstand the harsh environment. When Maya's husband and Zora's father (played by Common) ventures to the surface in search of supplies but fails to return, Maya and Zora embark on a perilous journey above ground. However, their encounter with a mysterious survivalist woman (portrayed by Milla Jovovich), who claims knowledge of Maya's husband, sets off a tense struggle for control of their underground sanctuary.

With additional performances by Raul Castillo and Sam Worthington, "Breathe" is written by Doug Simon ("Demonic," "Brotherhood") and directed by Stefon Bristol, the director of the Netflix time-travel teen film "See You Yesterday."

"Breathe" is set for release in theaters and on VOD starting April 26th. Watch the trailer for a glimpse into this adrenaline-fueled post-apocalyptic tale.
