In the new coming-of-age film "The Moon and Back," a young girl copes with the sudden loss of her father by taking on a DIY filmmaking project. Check out the newly released trailer, giving viewers a sneak peek into the film's heartfelt storyline.

Isabel May, from the Yellowstone prequel spinoff series "1883" and Apple's WWII series "Masters of the Air," stars in the upcoming film. She plays Lydia Gilbert, a high school senior grieving the recent passing of her father (portrayed by Nat Faxon, seen through video taped recordings). After discovering a hidden science-fiction screenplay her father penned years ago, Lydia embarks on the ambitious project of bringing it to life in his memory, armed only with a VHS camera and a few dollars, alongside her school pals.

Joining May in the cast are Missi Pyle ("Galaxy Quest," "Gone Girl"), P.J. Byrne ("The Boys," "Gen V"), and Miles Gutierrez-Riley (Amazon's "The Wilds").

"The Moon and Back" marks the feature film debut of writer and director Leah Bleich. Set for release on VOD and Digital platforms starting April 23rd, this touching tale promises to resonate with audiences of all ages.
