Although filmmaker Wes Anderson was a no-show at last night's ceremonies, he snagged his very first Oscar for Best Live-Action Short Film with "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar." This 30-minute gem, exclusive to Netflix, is based on Roald Dahl's beloved tale of a wealthy man's quest to master an extraordinary skill for the purpose of gaming the system. Benedict Cumberbatch steps into the shoes of Henry Sugar and doubles as the narrator.

In addition to "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar," Wes Anderson treated Netflix audiences to three other short films last year: "The Swan," "The Rat Catcher," and "Poison," all inspired by Roald Dahl's stories. With stellar performances by Sir Ben Kingsley, Dev Patel, Rupert Friend, and Richard Ayoade, alongside Ralph Fiennes portraying author Roald Dahl himself, these shorts have garnered heaps of praise from critics and fans alike, showcasing the quintessential Wes Anderson flair. Think quirky characters, vibrant color palettes, picturesque sets, whimsical storytelling, and a delightful dash of retro charm.

Following the exciting Oscar win, Netflix has plans to bundle all four shorts into a feature-length anthology film titled "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, and Three More." While all four shorts are currently available for viewing on Netflix, the anthology film is set to premiere this Friday, March 15th. So if you haven't caught the shorts yet, now's your chance. Meanwhile, be sure to check out the official trailer for "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, and Three More."
