Before he became the beloved lazy orange tabby cat we all know, Garfield was a small, wide-eyed kitten in search of a human owner to feed him some lasagna. Fate led him to Jon Arbuckle, and the rest, as they say, is history. Fast forward over four decades since cartoonist Jim Davis first introduced Garfield in his popular comic strip, and it seems our favorite feline friend is set to grace the big screen once again in an all-new CG animated comedy this summer. This film will delve into how Garfield met Jon, his love for all things pasta, and his journey to reunite with his long-lost father.

With plenty of excitement in store, there's a lot to look forward to in this new animated movie, which has received a brand-new official trailer, offering the first sample of Chris Pratt as the voice of Garfield. Following his role as Super Mario in last year's animated hit, Pratt showcases his vocal talents once again as the witty and lovable Garfield. Joining him is Samuel L. Jackson, lending his voice to Garfield's estranged father: Vic, a tough street cat who reconnects with Garfield after leaving him behind as a young kitten.

The film captures the heartwarming moment when Jon Arbuckle (voiced by Nicholas Hoult) encounters a charming orange tabby kitty at a local pizza joint. From there, the story leaps forward in time and follows Garfield on a thrilling adventure across state lines as he helps his father, Vic, who is on the run from a dangerous adversary. Along for the journey is Odie, Garfield's faithful yet dim-witted canine companion, portrayed by Harvey Guillen through various vocal effects.

Directed by Mark Dindal ("The Emperor's New Groove" and "Chicken Little"), "The Garfield Movie" features a strong supporting voice cast including Hannah Waddingham, Ving Rhames, Cecily Strong, Brett Goldstein, Bowen Yang, and Snoop Dogg. Set to hit theaters over Memorial Day Weekend, the film promises to "cat-tivate" audiences starting May 24th.
