What was intended to be a delightful weekend getaway for a couple quickly takes a chilling turn when uninvited strangers arrive at their secluded cabin, leaving them with no means of escape. Check out the first official trailer for "The Strangers: Chapter 1," the debut installment of a planned horror trilogy inspired by Bryan Bertino's cult 2008 slasher/home invasion thriller. This time, veteran action director Renny Harlin ("Cliffhanger," "Die Hard 2," "Deep Blue Sea") takes charge of this ambitious three-part reimagining.
Leading the cast of "The Strangers: Chapter 1" are Madelaine Petsch of "Riverdale" fame and Froy Gutierrez from "Teen Wolf," portraying a young couple seeking solace in a remote cabin in a seemingly ordinary mountain village after experiencing some car trouble. However, their lives are shattered when they realize that their cabin rental has been infiltrated by three mysterious figures concealed behind different terrifying masks. What ensues is a harrowing battle for survival as the couple confronts the sinister intruders.
Co-starring Rachel Shenton, Gabriel Basso, Ema Horvath, and Ella Bruccoleri, with a screenplay penned by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland ("Due Date"), Renny Harlin is set to direct all three chapters of this new "Strangers" reboot.
