Netflix has released the official trailer for the upcoming sports underdog British drama "The Beautiful Game," starring Oscar-nominated actor Bill Nighy ("Living," "Love Actually") and Jamaican-British actor Micheal Ward ("Empire of Light," "Top Boy").

The film takes inspiration from the real-life "Homeless World Cup," an annual soccer tournament that advocates for ending global homelessness. Many of the teams in the competition feature soccer players with personal experiences of homelessness or direct ties to the issue.

Bill Nighy takes on the role of Mal, the seasoned manager of England's homeless soccer team. With determination and courage, he sets out on a journey to guide his team to the prestigious Homeless World Cup in Rome. Joining him is Vinny, a skilled but troubled football striker played by Micheal Ward. Vinny must confront his turbulent past to unlock his true potential as a valuable team player.

"The Beautiful Game" is directed by British filmmaker Thea Sharrock, known for directing "Me Before You" and "Wicked Little Letters." The film's screenplay is penned by acclaimed English screenwriter Frank Cottrell-Boyce, whose writing credits include "Goodbye Christopher Robin," "The Railway Man," "Millions," and "24 Hour Party People."

"The Beautiful Game" is set to debut on Netflix on March 29th. Watch the trailer, above.
