Cate Blanchett is known for her versatility and her knack for fully embodying a wide range of characters, demonstrated by her memorable portrayal of Bob Dylan in "I'm Not There." It's difficult to imagine a more diverse role than that. However, her latest undertaking could prove to be her most biggest and perhaps funniest challenge yet. The two-time Academy Award winner tackles the role of a fearless, red-haired bounty hunter on a quest to save the universe. The film is adapted from the widely popular video game franchise of the same name by Gearbox Software. Given the current trend of video game adaptations garnering major attention, there is a heightened anticipation surrounding this movie.

Blanchett leads an exceptional ensemble cast, including comedian Kevin Hart, Ariana Greenblatt of "Barbie" fame, Edgar Ramirez, Florian Munteanu, and Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis, with Jack Black lending his voice to the wisecracking robot Claptrap.

In the film, Blanchett portrays Lilith, a formidable bounty hunter spearheading a team of unconventional individuals. Alongside seasoned mercenary Roland (Kevin Hart), precocious pre-teen demolitionist Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), Tina's burly bodyguard Krieg (Florian Munteanu), eccentric scientist Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), and the quick-witted robot Claptrap (Jack Black), Lilith and her crew must confront alien threats and ruthless bandits to uncover one of Pandora's most explosive secrets. Their mission holds the fate of the universe in the balance, but their true struggle lies in battling one another.

Directed by horror maestro Eli Roth ("Thanksgiving," "Hostel"), "Borderlands" is set to storm theaters on August 9th.
