This summer, fans of "A Quiet Place" and its sequel will get another installment in the post-apocalyptic horror franchise, offering a potential glimpse into how it all began.

Check out the first official trailer for "A Quiet Place: Day One," the spin-off prequel of the post-apocalyptic horror saga, starring Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, "Stranger Things: Season 4" breakout Joseph Quinn and Alex Wolff, of "Hereditary" and "Pig" fame.

This time, the action takes place in the big city, set against the backdrop of a bustling metropolis. It's day one when a mysterious alien invasion triggers widespread human extinction. As civilization collapses and human survival hangs in the balance, the world is plunged into eerie silence.

Djimon Hounsou returns to the franchise, reprising his role as "the Man on the Island" from "A Quiet Place: Part II." In the sequel, he was introduced as the leader of a small group of survivors on an island. "Day One" is anticipated to reveal how his character ended up on that island, with the trailer hinting at a connection between Hounsou and Lupita Nyong'o's characters.

While specific plot details remain scarce, the story of "Day One" springs from an original concept by John Krasinski, the writer-director of "A Quiet Place" and its sequel; based on characters created by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck.

Filmmaker Michael Sarnoski, who made his impressive directorial debut with 2021's "Pig," starring Nicolas Cage and Alex Wolff, takes over the directorial duties from Krasinski in this installment. Sarnoski also wrote the screenplay.

Fans can prepare for another thrilling journey into the world of silence when "A Quiet Place: Day One" hits theaters on June 28th.
