With all of this chatter about the validity of 3D films, Ang Lee's upcoming fantasy adaptation "Life of Pi" might be the right motion picture to change the hearts and minds of naysayers. While early reviews have been mixed, most critics tend to agree that the film's technical achievements and 3D work are something to be admired.

You can get a good deal of the movie's visual flavor by watching this gorgeous-looking film clip. It's a dialogue-free scene featuring the story's protagonist, Pi Patel -- a shipwrecked Indian teen played by newbie actor Suraj Sharma (in his first role, ever). Here, he's sharing a lifeboat with a ferocious Bengal tiger as they both are pelted by a massive school of rainbow-colored fish. Keep in mind, most of these shots are done in the computer. Unless we are mistaken, and Ang Lee possesses a secret Aquaman-like power. But whatever the case, the clip is jaw-dropping, to say the least.

"Life of Pi" swims into theaters on November 21st.

Director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) creates a groundbreaking movie event about a young man who survives a tragic disaster at sea and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While marooned on a lifeboat, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with the ship's only other survivor -- a fearsome Bengal tiger.
