From filmmaker Julien Leclercq, the creative force behind the French Netflix action crime series "Ganglands," comes a contemporary reimagining of the classic French thriller "The Wages of Fear."

Check out the official teaser for "The Wages of Fear," starring Ana Girardot, Alban Lenoir, Franck Gastambide, and Sofiane Zermani as a team of seasoned professionals assigned with the dicey task of transporting two truckloads of highly volatile nitroglycerine through a treacherous desert terrain to extinguish a deadly oil well fire. Their race against time gives them less than 24 hours to accomplish this mission. However, the slightest misstep or obstacle along the way could trigger a catastrophic explosion, threatening their very lives.

The original 1953 film, itself an adaptation of a French novel, remains a revered classic, known for its suspenseful storytelling that delves into the human psyche, exploring the desperation in undertaking such a dangerous job. The story was previously remade by director William Friedkin for his 1977 cult film "Sorcerer," also considered a classic in suspense. This latest Netflix adaptation, however, appears to give the story a shinier and more action-packed treatment.

The film is directed by Julien Leclercq, known for "Ganglands," and the director of the French action thriller "Earth and Blood" and the Jean-Claude Van Damme action movie "The Bouncer."

"The Wages of Fear" is scheduled to make its Netflix debut on March 29th. Watch the teaser, above.

synopsis:
In the middle of the desert, near a refugee camp, an oil well catches fire, directly threatening the lives of the population. Dispatching experts to the site, the company operating the well realizes that it has only one solution to avert the catastrophe: detonate the oil well with nitroglycerin within 24 hours. Against a large sum of money, a powerhouse team is then sent 800 km away to transport 200 kg of explosives in two trucks. The team now has less than 20 hours to reach the oil well. 20 hours to traverse hostile zones controlled by armed rebels, cross minefields, and drive two trucks loaded with nitroglycerin over rough terrain! The race against the clock has begun...
