Russell Crowe delves into buried secrets in the new official trailer for the upcoming mystery crime thriller "Sleeping Dogs."

In this suspenseful thriller, the "Gladiator" star portrays an ex-homicide detective recovering from a severe head injury that has left him with a fractured memory. Following his doctor's advice to keep his mind active, Crowe begins revisiting a decade-old criminal case that he struggles to remember. As he pieces together the evidence, he stumbles upon something amiss, something that doesn't quite add up. His investigation leads him to a precarious situation involving incriminating evidence against an innocent man who is languishing in jail, police corruption, and a complex web of bureaucratic conspiracy.

Crowe is joined by a strong supporting cast that includes Karen Gillan, Marton Csokas, Thomas M. Wright, Harry Greenwood, and Tommy Flanagan.

Based on the crime novel "The Book of Mirrors" by Eugen Chirovici, the thriller is directed and co-written by Adam Cooper, a screenwriter known for his work on "Assassin's Creed," "The Transporter Refueled," and "Exodus: Gods and Kings." The movie marks his directorial debut.
