We're just a month away from the highly-anticipated return of Rick Grimes and Michonne, two of the most beloved and iconic characters from "The Walking Dead" franchise. They will be making their triumphant comeback in a new limited series titled "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live," and here's the final official trailer to give you a taste of what's to come.
Could this spinoff series be the one to revitalize and rekindle the "The Walking Dead" franchise's cultural significance? It's a lofty hope, but fans have been eagerly awaiting the return of Rick and Michonne, portrayed by Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira, ever since they departed from the original flagship show several years ago.
Executive produced by franchise showrunner Scott M. Gimple, the new AMC series follows Rick Grimes (Lincoln), who was previously believed to be dead but makes a dramatic reappearance. His mysterious fate is intertwined with the enigmatic Civic Republic Military (CRM). Meanwhile, Michonne (Gurira), driven by her unyielding determination, left her group to search for Rick. Her quest is poised to uncover the truth about Rick's whereabouts. Whether or not Rick and Michonne ultimately reunite in the series remains uncertain, but fans are certainly hoping for a big, emotional reunion.
In addition to Lincoln and Gurira, the cast of the new series includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Matt Jeffries, and "Lost" veteran Terry O'Quinn. Pollyanna McIntosh, a "Walking Dead" veteran, is expected to reprise her role as Jadis Stokes, also known as Anne, the CRM's warrant officer who played a pivotal role in rescuing an injured Rick in season nine of "The Walking Dead."
"The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" is set to premiere on February 25th, airing on AMC and subsequently available on AMC Plus. Watch the final trailer, above.
