Netflix seems to have a promising project in the pipeline. The streaming platform is reuniting with acclaimed filmmaker Richard Linklater, who previously delivered the underrated animated gem "Apollo 10 1⁄2: A Space Age Childhood." Unfortunately, the Netflix movie flew under the radar in 2020 despite being a fantastic animated comedy. However, Linklater's prospects look much brighter as he reunites with "Top Gun" actor Glen Powell, who is currently making waves alongside Sydney Sweeney in the sleeper romantic comedy hit "Anyone but You."

In Linklater's latest "Hit Man," Powell not only takes on the lead role but also co-wrote the screenplay with Linklater himself. Powell portrays a professional contract killer who unexpectedly finds himself falling in love with a client, played by Adria Arjona, known for her roles in "Andor" and "Morbius."

The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival last September, has been generating significant buzz. It's said to be based on a true story that's stranger than fiction, drawing inspiration from the 2001 Texas Monthly magazine article by journalist Skip Hollandsworth. The movie continues its festival run this month, with screenings at Sundance.

Netflix secured the rights to "Hit Man" following its successful debut at the Venice Film Festival and is planning to release the film in the summer, starting on June 7th.
