Netflix has released the official trailer for the upcoming limited British romantic drama series "One Day," which is based on David Nicholls's global best-selling novel of the same name. This series tells the enduring love story between two close "platonic" friends, Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew, as they navigate life and their evolving relationship over the course of several decades.

The novel "One Day" was previously adapted into a 2011 feature film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, but this Netflix adaptation aims to provide a more faithful representation of the source material. Each episode of the series covers a year in the lives of Emma and Dexter, who, after spending the night of their graduation together, go their separate ways but continue to have deep feelings for each other over the span of a decade.

The series stars Ambika Mod (This Is Going to Hurt) as Emma and Leo Woodall (The White Lotus: Season 2) as Dexter. It was created by acclaimed Scottish writer Nicole Taylor whose credits include the British shows "Three Girls" and "The Nest." Taylor also wrote the screenplay for the Jessie Buckley-starring country singer drama "Wild Rose."

"One Day" is set to premiere on Netflix on February 8th. Watch the trailer, above.

synopsis:
ONE DAY tells the story of Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew who, on 15th July 1988, the night of their graduation, speak for the very first time. The next morning, they go their separate ways but where will they be on this one ordinary day the next year, and the year after that, and every year that follows? Each episode finds Dex and Em, one year older, on this one particular date, as they grow and change, move together and apart, experience joy and heartbreak.
