Acclaimed filmmaker Ava DuVernay, of "Selma" fame and the creator of the Netflix miniseries "When They See Us," is taking on the challenge of adapting journalist Isabel Wilkerson's bestselling investigative book, "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents," into a feature film. This feature effort promises to be a deep and thought-provoking exploration of the intricate history of the caste system, not only within the United States but also across the globe.

"Origin" stars Oscar-nominated actress Aunjanue Ellis, from "King Richard," in the role of journalist Isabel Wilkerson. The film is a meticulous deconstruction of the world's social hierarchy, tracing the life of Isabel Wilkerson as she embarks on a profound journey into the historical foundation of racism, the formation of class-based structures, and the profound and widespread impacts of deep-seated prejudices. All of this takes place as she conducts research for her groundbreaking book, "Caste."

Interweaving multiple storylines, including Wilkerson's investigative journey, "Origin" also boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, Audra McDonald, Niecy Nash-Betts, Nick Offerman, and Blair Underwood.

Check out the newly-released official full trailer for "Origin," which is slated to hit theaters nationwide on January 19th.
