In 2015, the celebrated Australian filmmaker George Miller solidified his reputation as the maestro of audacious action with the release of his blockbuster smash sequel, "Mad Max: Fury Road." This film also introduced one of the most formidable female warriors ever to grace the silver screen: Imperator Furiosa, brilliantly portrayed by Charlize Theron. Now, several years later, George Miller is embarking on an exciting new cinematic journey within the "Mad Max" universe, delving into Furiosa's backstory with an upcoming standalone, spinoff prequel movie.

So, it's time to oil up those mechanical gears and don your preferred post-apocalyptic leather attire because Miller is back in full-throttle mode. And he's accompanied by some familiar faces. Anya Taylor-Joy steps into the role of a young Imperator Furiosa, while Chris Hemsworth, albeit unrecognizable with a prosthetic nose and a bushy beard, portrays another deranged post-apocalyptic warlord character known as Dementus.

Behold the first official trailer for "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," the highly anticipated prequel to "Fury Road," which delves into the origin story of Imperator Furiosa, played by Taylor-Joy. She is the fierce woman who would later become the one-armed war captain under Immortan Joe.

This upcoming action film, which also co-stars Tom Burke, Alyla Browne, Nathan Jones, Angus Sampson, and Daniel Webber, follows a young Furiosa as she is taken from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the clutches of a formidable Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus, portrayed by the nearly unrecognizable Chris Hemsworth.

George Miller directs the film from a screenplay he co-wrote with "Fury Road" co-scribe Nico Lathouris, and it serves as the fifth installment in the "Mad Max" franchise.

"Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" is currently scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on May 24th, 2024.
