With the new steward of DC films, James Gunn, guiding the ship for the upcoming Superman movie, it appears that a change in direction is on the horizon for the franchise. But that doesn't mean there won't be some fun on the way out. Get ready for Jason Momoa to bring the humor and excitement as he returns as everyone's favorite superhero who has communicates with fish – Aquaman!

Take a look at a brand-new official trailer for "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 DC superhero blockbuster. Jason Momoa reprises his role as the titular hero in this upcoming film, once again under the direction of James Wan.

In this new chapter, Arthur Curry (Momoa), now the ruler of Atlantis, grapples with the challenges that come with his newfound royal duties while embracing his role as a father. Of course, no Aquaman adventure is complete without a formidable adversary. Enter the ruthless pirate mercenary Black Manta, once again brought to life by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, returning with a sinister agenda that threatens to disrupt everything.

Faced with such a grave threat, Arthur must turn to an unlikely source for assistance -- his imprisoned half-brother and former rival, Orm (played by Patrick Wilson). These estranged siblings must set aside their past animosities and form an unlikely alliance to safeguard their kingdom and protect Aquaman's family.

The forthcoming film also brings back Amber Heard as Queen Mera, Nicole Kidman as Arthur's mother, Atlanna, Temuera Morrison as Arthur's father, Tom Curry, and Dolph Lundgren as Mera's father, King Nereus.

Director James Wan and Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa -- along with Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Nicole Kidman -- return in the sequel to the highest-grossing DC film of all time: "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom." Having failed to defeat Aquaman (Momoa) the first time, Black Manta (Abdul-Mateen), still driven by the need to avenge his father's death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm (Wilson), the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman's family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.
