Netflix has released an official sneak peek clip from the highly ambitious science fiction series "3 Body Problem," brought to life by executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, renowned for their stewardship of "Game of Thrones."
In this clip, "Game of Thrones" alum John Bradley plays an apparently ordinary man who receives a sophisticated chrome headgear, resembling a highly-advanced VR headset. Upon donning the device, he is instantly transported into a virtual reality-like world where everything feels astonishingly real. Could this be a means of teleporting to a different universe? Perhaps.
"3 Body Problem" is based on the beloved best-selling science fiction book trilogy series written by Chinese author Liu Cixin. The story explores humanity's revelation that we are not alone in the universe and delves into the consequential events that follow.
This marks another ambitious television adaptation from Benioff and Weiss, who collaborate with Emmy-nominated producer-writer Alexander Woo (known for "The Terror: Infamy" and "True Blood").
Alongside Bradley, the series boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Jovan Adepo, Liam Cunningham, Alex Sharp, Eiza Gonzalez, Benedict Wong, Jonathan Pryce, Rosalind Chao, Ben Schnetzer, and more. The pilot episode is directed by acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Derek Tsang, recognized for his work on the 2019 Chinese drama "Better Days."
