Behold the very first official teaser trailer for "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire," the highly anticipated sequel to Jason Reitman's "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," marking the fifth installment in the beloved "Ghostbusters" franchise.

This film once again centers around the Spengler family, with a focus on Egon Spengler's grandchildren, Phoebe and Trevor, again portrayed by Mckenna Grace and "Stranger Things" star Finn Wolfhard. It appears that the Spengler family has returned to the place where the Ghostbusters legacy originated -- the iconic New York City firehouse. This time, Egon's daughter, portrayed by Carrie Coon, and Egon's grandchildren have joined forces with the original Ghostbusters team (Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts). Their mission: to thwart the "death chill," a paranormal phenomenon that can strike unpredictably, freezing anything or anyone, turning them into pure ice. Their objective is to prevent the world from plummeting into a second Ice Age. Sounds easy enough.

Paul Rudd also reprises his role in the new sequel as science teacher Gary Grooberson. Logan Kim and Celeste O'Connor return as Podcast and Lucky, respectively. Joining in the adventure are Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind.

Directorial duties for this new installment have shifted to Gil Kenan, who takes the helm from Jason Reitman, though Reitman continues to serve as a producer. Reitman has also co-written the screenplay alongside Kenan. Gil Kenan is recognized for his work on the acclaimed animated comedy "Monster House," as well as directing the 2008 post-apocalyptic fantasy film "City of Ember" and the 2015 remake of "Poltergeist." Additionally, he directed and co-wrote the British holiday fantasy film "A Boy Called Christmas."

Mark your calendars, as "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire" is set to hit theaters on March 29, 2024.
