While kaiju fans in Japan prepare for a December reboot of the iconic "Godzilla" film, American viewers have something to look forward to in November with a new "Godzilla" television series premiering on Apple TV.

Get a behind-the-scenes look at the new Apple original series in this official featurette for "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters." The show is set within Legendary's "MonsterVerse" universe and serves as a bridge between two blockbuster films, "Kong: Skull Island" and "Godzilla vs. Kong."

"Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" stars Kurt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, and Mari Yamamoto, with appearances by Wyatt Russell, John Goodman, and Anders Holm. The series delves into the origins of the secretive Monarch program and follows a group of young investigators determined to uncover its secrets.

Kurt Russell plays Lee Shaw, an Army officer who was one of the early members of the Monarch program. Interestingly, his real-life son, Wyatt, portrays a younger version of Lee Shaw in flashback scenes. John Goodman reprises his role as senior Monarch researcher Bill Randa from "Kong: Skull Island," and Anders Holm portrays a young Bill Randa in flashback sequences.

"Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" is executive produced by television producer-writer Chris Black and acclaimed comic book writer Matt Fraction. The first two episodes of the series are directed by Emmy-nominated "Game of Thrones" director Matt Shakman, who is also currently attached to direct the upcoming "Fantastic Four" movie for Marvel.

The series promises to set the stage for the next film in the franchise, "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire." You can catch "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters" exclusively on Apple TV Plus when it premieres this month, on November 17th.
