Having appeared in six seasons of the emotionally charged family drama "This Is Us," actress Chrissy Metz is now venturing into something entirely new. She's trying her hand at the horror genre -- and it's just in time for Christmas!

Check out the official trailer for "A Creature Was Stirring," a new Christmas horror thriller in which Chrissy Metz plays an overly protective mother with a teenage daughter harboring a mysterious affliction. As they strive to keep their dark family secret hidden, an unexpected burglary jeopardizes their efforts to conceal their monstrous truth.

Directed by indie horror filmmaker Damien LeVeck, known for "The Cleansing Hour," this upcoming film features a cast that includes Annalise Basso ("Ouija: Origin of Evil"), Scout Taylor-Compton (known for her roles in Rob Zombie's "Halloween" remake films), and Connor Paolo ("Friend Request").

"A Creature Was Stirring" is set to premiere in theaters on December 8th, followed by a Digital release on December 12th. Watch the trailer, above.
