Netflix has released a brand-new teaser for "Society of the Snow," the upcoming Spanish-language plane crash survival thriller based on the chilling true story known as the Uruguayan Andes flight disaster.

This Netflix film is the latest project from renowned Spanish filmmaker J.A. Bayona, celebrated for his work on movies like "The Impossible," which recounted the true story of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Bayona has also helmed notable films such as "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," "A Monster Calls," and "The Orphanage."

The cast of "Society of the Snow" includes Enzo Vogrincic, Matias Recalt, Agustin Pardella, Esteban Kukuriczka, and Tomas Wolf. The movie dramatizes the harrowing events of 1972 when a Uruguayan rugby team's plane crashed in the snowy Andes mountains. Stranded in sub-zero temperatures and faced with the challenge of survival in a harsh environment, the survivors were forced into extreme measures, including consuming the flesh of deceased passengers.

"Society of the Snow" has been selected as Spain's entry for the 2024 Oscars. The film will debut in select theaters throughout December before arriving on Netflix on January 4th. Watch the new teaser, above.
