Get a sneak peek with the official first look featurette for "The Boys in the Boat," an upcoming sports drama directed by George Clooney. The film stars Joel Edgerton (Warrior, Thirteen Lives, Master Gardener) and Callum Turner (Fantastic Beasts, Green Room).

Based on the best-selling non-fiction novel of the same name by Daniel James Brown, the movie tells the incredible and inspirational true story of a group of underdogs during the Great Depression. They come together as members of the 1936 University of Washington rowing team and embark on a journey to compete for gold at the Summer Olympics in Berlin.

Joel Edgerton steps into the shoes of rowing coach Al Ulbrickson, while Callum Turner portrays Olympic rower Joe Rantz in the film.

George Clooney, whose previous directing credits include the 2021 Amazon coming-of-age drama "The Tender Bar" and the 2020 Netflix thriller "The Midnight Sky," once again takes the director's chair.

The screenplay for "The Boys in the Boat" is adapted by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Mark L. Smith, known for his work on "The Revenant," "The Midnight Sky," and the upcoming thriller "The Marsh King's Daughter."

"The Boys in the Boat" is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 25th.
